Mother and daughter from Israel critically hurt in Uman car crash before Rosh Hashanah trip
Before Rosh Hashanah, a mother and her 6-year-old daughter from Israel were severely injured in a car accident in Uman while traveling to pay respects at Rabbi Nachman of Breslov's grave in Ukraine. The young girl was badly hurt in the incident, prompting immediate evacuation to a nearby hospital. As the accident occurred just ahead of the holiday, with an influx of Breslov Hasidim expected in the city, a local United Hatzalah emergency team rendered vital medical aid. In preparation for Rosh Hashanah, Uman's United Hatzalah branch has bolstered its resources year-round, including volunteers, ambulances, and a clinic. Efforts to transport thousands of Israeli pilgrims to Uman faced obstacles, with plans to operate charter flights to Chișinău collapsing due to new conditions imposed by Moldova. Negotiations continue as flights are rerouted through other neighboring countries, sparking concerns among travelers about potential disruptions. Despite these challenges, an estimated 20,000 pilgrims are still anticipated to pass through Moldova via scheduled flights or overland routes from Romania into Ukraine.
