Midwest City police pursuit leads to suspect's death
Midwest City police were called to the scene of a car crash that caused significant traffic delays on Monday night. According to reports around 9 p.m., officers were dealing with a serious accident on Southeast 15th Street between Century and Douglas boulevards. Both directions of the road were blocked due to the collision. Authorities revealed that the incident began with a stolen vehicle, taken after a woman in Harrah was assaulted with a pipe. The stolen vehicle was tracked down by Midwest City police officers on South Sooner Road. When officers tried to stop the driver, a pursuit ensued, ending on Southeast 15th Street after a tactical vehicle intervention was carried out. The suspect involved sustained fatal injuries, resulting in their death. Unfortunately, the suspect's vehicle also hit another motorist who was stopped on Southeast 15th Street, though the second driver only suffered minor injuries. The suspect's identity has not yet been disclosed, and the public was urged to steer clear of the area and seek alternative routes while the investigation progressed. It was emphasized that drivers should not attempt to navigate around the crash site.
