Many Indian pilgrims may have died in bus crash in Saudi Arabia
Many Indian pilgrims are feared to have lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a bus and a diesel tanker near the holy city of Medina in Saudi Arabia. The bus, carrying 46 passengers from Mecca to Medina, collided on a highway, with around 45 individuals from Telangana believed to have perished, according to Gaurav Uppal, a senior official from Telangana state involved in rescue efforts. There is one survivor who is injured. Family members of the victims gathered at the Fly Zone travel agency office in Hyderabad seeking information. Indian officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, and Telangana's representative Revanth Reddy, expressed their condolences. Indian embassy in Riyadh and consulate in Jeddah are providing support to the victims' relatives. Reports suggest that at least 18 of the deceased were from Hyderabad, with most of them belonging to two families. The injured survivor, Mohammed Shoaib, informed their family of the tragic event. The police are in communication with the travel agency that organized the pilgrimage.
