Man with three prior DUI offenses accused in fatal Napa County collision

A man, Norberto Celerino, who had three prior DUI convictions, was found to be drunk when he crashed into a tree in Napa County, resulting in the deaths of six passengers, officials say. The Napa County district attorney’s office announced on Tuesday that Celerino faces charges including six felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and a felony count of driving under the influence causing injury with multiple prior DUI convictions. Prosecutors allege that the driver was under the influence when the crash occurred on Pope Valley Road, with seven passengers in the van. Unfortunately, six of the passengers, who were farmworkers, lost their lives in the incident. Celerino and one other passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for injuries. The deceased individuals, all residents of the Stockton area and Mexican nationals, were Araon Ruiz Ruiz (39), Beymar Reynosa Rodriguez (32), Demetrio Celerino Francisco (39), Pedro Lopez Gomez (57), Loreto Ricardo Hernandez (42), and Fernando Silverio (34), as identified by the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Celerino had previously been convicted of DUI in 2020 and 2024 in San Joaquin County, with an additional DUI conviction over a decade ago, according to prosecutors.
