Man with previous DUI conviction arrested in Las Vegas for suspected DUI crash resulting in woman losing pregnancy and child hospitalized
A man in Las Vegas is facing serious charges after allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash while driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. The crash resulted in a child being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and a woman losing her pregnancy. Prosecutors revealed in court that the man, Maximiliano Chavez, had a prior DUI conviction in 2021. Chavez admitted to consuming alcohol and marijuana before the crash, which occurred when he ran a red light. Several people were injured in the crash, with one child passing away despite life-saving efforts. Chavez's bail was set at $250,000, and he was ordered to refrain from driving or consuming alcohol. He will appear in court again on Tuesday.
