Man sentenced for March shooting and deadly collision
A man from Wichita, Kansas was sentenced after being arrested for his involvement in a shooting that resulted in a fatal crash in southeast Wichita. Jonearl Smith pleaded guilty to several charges, including criminal discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm as a felon. He was handed a 52-month prison sentence by the Sedgwick County District Court. The incident occurred on March 16 when Smith fired at a vehicle, causing it to crash, resulting in the death of John Dotson and injuries to others involved.
