Man from Zebulon killed in fiery collision on U.S. 64 West close to Lizard Lick Road: NCSHP
A tragic single-car crash early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a man from Zebulon, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on U.S. 64/Interstate 87 West near Lizard Lick Road in eastern Wake County. Authorities reported that the vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Kevin Nkulu Mutaba, was traveling at a high speed when it veered off the road, hit a tree, and caught fire. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the driver did not survive. The crash led to a temporary closure of the westbound lanes on U.S 64, with traffic directed to take an alternate route. The section was reopened a few hours later. The investigation revealed that excessive speed played a role in the tragic incident, though no charges are expected to be filed.
