Man facing charges for fatal crash in Ybor City to attend court

Silas Sampson, the 22-year-old man who allegedly drove into a crowd in Ybor City, faces his first court appearance Sunday morning on eight felony charges stemming from the incident, which resulted in four deaths and 13 injuries. The charges include four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of fleeing police leading to serious injury or death, with the possibility of more charges being added. The crash occurred early on Saturday when Sampson, driving a Toyota Camry, lost control while evading police, crashing into Bradley's on 7th. The tragedy has shaken the community, and a vigil was held to honor the victims. While Sampson had a previous speeding citation for going 99 mph in a 70 mph zone, it is unclear if this will impact the current case. The victims have not been identified, and there is no evidence suggesting they or the business were targeted. The court appearance is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday, with uncertainty about Sampson's attendance in person.
