Man arrested as Capitol police chase ends in car crashing into tree
A man in Jackson, Mississippi is facing charges after a pursuit that concluded with a vehicle hitting a tree. The incident began when officers tried to pull over a vehicle on Bobby Rush Boulevard and Shamrock Drive in the morning of July 18. The driver, identified as Jarvis Thompson, 27, led the officers on a chase to Belvedere Drive where he crashed into a tree in front of a residence. Thompson was found with a gun but dropped the weapon and tried to resist when officers approached. He was eventually apprehended. Thompson and a passenger were taken to a hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Thompson has been charged with felony fleeing and driving without a valid license, with further charges anticipated.
