
Man accused in deadly SPI golf cart accident
A man in South Padre Island, Texas was given a $180,000 bond after a fatal collision between a golf cart and a Chevrolet truck resulted in the death of a woman from North Texas. The individual, David Rivera, faces charges including six counts of intoxication assault and one count of intoxication manslaughter. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 9 at an intersection in South Padre Island, where multiple individuals sustained injuries requiring immediate medical attention. There were a total of six individuals in the golf cart involved, while Rivera was the sole occupant of the truck. Rivera was detained at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody. One passenger in the golf cart, a 34-year-old woman named Kaylinn Chuchill from Fort Worth, tragically passed away as a result of her injuries. The remaining occupants of the golf cart have been discharged from the hospital. Rivera was granted a $180,000 bond, and the investigation is ongoing.
