Madera railroad crossings closed due to fatal train accident

A significant portion of Madera's railroad crossings was shut down following a fatal train accident on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. when a 52-year-old man was hit by a train near Gateway Drive and 3rd Street. Crews closed railroad crossings north of 9th St. for approximately one hour to clear the site. Authorities are investigating the accident, but there is no suspicion of any foul play.
