Legal decision made for driver in accident resulting in death of mother, daughter on I-95.
The family of Jamie Howard Sloan and her daughter Rylie Sloan have been seeking justice for three years following a tragic multi-vehicle accident on I-95 near the Florida-Georgia line in July 2022. Recently, Nicholas Burist was found guilty by a Camden County, Georgia, jury for the crash that took the lives of Sloan and her daughter. Burist, the driver of the semi-truck that crossed lanes and collided with Sloan's car, faces charges including multiple counts of vehicular homicide and DUI. The sentencing for Burist is scheduled for Monday, as stated by the victim's family. Jamie and Rylie Sloan were the daughter and granddaughter of Jim and Wanda Howard from Travelers Rest. Jim, a former coach of Blue Ridge High School's football team, along with their son-in-law, have been advocating for justice in an attempt to find closure.
