Kirkland crash injures one person

A single-vehicle crash occurred in Kirkland, NY, leaving one person injured and causing a road closure for an extended period, according to a report by Oneida County Sheriffs. The incident took place on Fountain Street in Kirkland on Thursday, September 4th. Law enforcement responded to find a car overturned with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Patricia Cerda from Wellesley, Massachusetts, trapped inside. Rescue teams successfully freed Cerda, who was later taken to Wynn Hospital in Utica for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that Cerda, distracted while driving, was traveling too fast for the wet road conditions, leading her car to veer off the road and collide with a utility pole. National Grid worked to repair the damaged utilities, prompting the closure of Fountain Street for several hours. The road has since reopened. Cerda has not yet been cited for the accident. The scene was attended by various agencies including the New York State Police, National Grid, Clinton Collision, Clinton Fire Department, and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, in addition to the Oneida County Sheriffs.
