Iowa law enforcement finds vehicle in fatal hit-and-run buggy collision
Authorities in Clarke County, Iowa, have found the vehicle involved in a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Elmer Borntrager. The young man was killed when the horse-drawn buggy he was riding in was hit from behind by a vehicle on R15, about five miles south of Murray. Borntrager was ejected from the buggy and did not survive. The Sheriff's Office requested the public's assistance in locating the vehicle, described as a silver or gray Chevy or GM sedan with significant damage to the front right side, windshield, and roof. Thanks to tips provided by the community, law enforcement was able to locate the vehicle, which is now being processed for evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are conducting interviews as they work to determine the driver responsible for this tragedy. At this time, no details about the driver have been disclosed.
