Investigation underway after deadly motorcycle crash
Joplin Police are currently investigating a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday morning. The incident occurred at around 7:44 am at the Intersection of 20th Street and Schifferdecker, following 911 calls reporting an injury crash involving a motorcycle. The Joplin Police Department’s Major Crash Team concluded that a motorcycle was heading northbound on Schifferdecker and collided with a passenger car traveling southbound at the intersection with 20th Street. The rider of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but unfortunately, later succumbed to those injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved did not sustain any injuries. Due to the sensitive nature of the situation, no further details will be released until the next of kin is notified. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
