
Investigation of Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 9 in Colorado
The Colorado State Patrol is looking into an incident in Grand County that resulted in a tragic collision on Monday, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and causing serious injuries to one other person. The accident happened when a Ford F-150, traveling north on Highway 9, veered into the southbound lane near milepost 136 at approximately 7:17 a.m. The Ford collided with a GMC Yukon traveling in the opposite direction, igniting both vehicles. The driver of the F-150, a 25-year-old man, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the 34-year-old driver of the Yukon and his four passengers lost their lives at the scene. The deceased individuals will be identified by the Grand County Coroner's Office once their families have been notified. Following extensive investigation, Highway 9 was reopened at 2:47 p.m., after being closed for much of the day.
