Illinois crash victim was driving stolen car with open whiskey bottle: sheriff

An early morning collision in Ingleside resulted in a tragic fatality and injuries to another driver. The incident occurred when a Honda sedan traveling westbound on Route 134 crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an eastbound GMC work truck. Sadly, the driver of the Honda, whose identity has not been disclosed, lost his life at the scene. The authorities found an open bottle of whiskey in his possession, and the vehicle was reported stolen the day before. The driver of the work truck, a 44-year-old man from Johnsburg, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the crash's impact on the area surrounding South Middle School, the school day was delayed by three hours. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy, and further investigations are being carried out by the sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Team.
