Identification made after deadly head-on collision close to Tornillo

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPCSO) has identified the driver and passenger who tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision near Tornillo on the same afternoon. This incident, reported by KTSM, occurred around 2 p.m. at the intersection of MF Aguilera and OT Smith, involving a Nissan Titan and a Mazda CX-5. The driver of the Mazda, Maria Escudero Loya, aged 51, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger, Mayrin Perez, aged 21, was taken to a local hospital and later passed away. The Nissan driver was also hospitalized, with the extent of their injuries unknown. EPCSO has not confirmed if speed played a role in the accident and the investigation continues.
