I-865 Closed Due to Accident Caused by Slippery Conditions
Boone County, Indiana - Due to slippery road conditions and several vehicles sliding off the road, authorities have closed all lanes of Interstate 865 near the I-65 SB ramp in Boone County. The exit ramp of I-65 leading to I-865 eastbound at the 129 mile marker exit has been closed as well, as multiple slide offs have occurred. Deputy Tyler Moriarty of the Boone County Sheriff's Office described the bridge on I-65 southbound to I-865 eastbound as extremely icy, causing vehicles to slide into the guardrail and even off the road. Fortunately, there have been no reports of serious injuries at this time. INDOT officials expect I-865 EB to be closed late into Sunday night and possibly overnight until Monday morning while waiting for salt trucks to arrive.
