
I-40 lanes closed in Raleigh due to 7-car crash; traffic backed up 4 miles
A multi-car collision shut down a portion of Interstate 40 near Raleigh, North Carolina for about an hour on Sunday afternoon. The crash, involving numerous vehicles, occurred on the eastbound lanes near the U.S. 1 interchange. Emergency vehicles responded to the scene, and although one lane was initially closed, all eastbound lanes were soon shut down. Traffic was affected up to four miles away, but the road was fully reopened by 3:35 p.m. Thankfully, there were no reports of serious injuries. The Raleigh Police Department is looking into the incident.
