Honoring Skateboarder Killed by LAPD Vehicle in Highland Park
The family and friends of Gerardo “Jerry” Estrada are heartbroken after he was fatally struck by an LAPD cruiser while on his way home from work in Highland Park. The 30-year-old was riding his skateboard near Figueroa Street and Woodside Drive when a police SUV hit him. Despite efforts to save him, he tragically passed away at the scene. According to LAPD, the officers were responding to an incident involving a parolee at large in the area with lights and sirens activated at the time of the accident. Estrada’s mother, Rosa Cazares, described him as a bright and free-spirited individual.
