Hit-and-run in Cobbs Creek after fatal crash

A man had passed away after a collision in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood of Philadelphia late Friday night, as reported by the police. The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. at the corner of South 57th and Chestnut streets. Initial information indicates that a blue Ford Explorer was speeding when it collided with a gray Ford Focus, leading the Explorer to crash onto the sidewalk and the Focus to hit the rear of a parked tractor trailer. The driver of the Focus, identified as an adult male by the police, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Explorer was observed fleeing the scene on foot following the accident. Authorities have not yet provided details about the fleeing individual. The circumstances of the collision are currently being investigated by the Philadelphia Police Crash Investigation Unit.
