Hit-and-run crash suspect arrested
An individual has been taken into custody in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that took place in Vermilion Parish over the weekend. The Louisiana State Police Troop I launched an investigation into the crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 700 near Highway 92 on the night of November 2, 2025. Tony Barthe Jr. of Rayne lost his life in the collision. The authorities report that Logan Hoke of Duson was driving a 2020 Ford Edge north on Highway 700 when he tried to overtake another vehicle, causing his car to veer into the southbound lane and strike Barthe, who was walking at the time. Barthe sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact, according to state police. Hoke reportedly fled the scene without stopping but was later apprehended by troopers on charges of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. He was taken to Vermilion Parish Jail and remains in custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
