Highway 101 section near Rocks Road closed for cleaning after multi-car accident
Authorities reopened Highway 101 on Thursday morning following a multi-vehicle accident near Rocks Road. CAL FIRE San Benito-Monterey Unit reported that nine vehicles were involved in the crash which occurred in the northbound lanes. Although no injuries were recorded, the incident led to significant traffic delays in both directions of Highway 101. A SigAlert was issued for the area, but the No. 1 lane on the southbound side has been reopened for traffic. All vehicles involved have been moved off the road onto the shoulder. The northbound lanes of Hwy. 101 were blocked for several hours but have since been cleared. Caltrans will be implementing a new traffic plan at Rocks and Cannon roads starting Friday night, including the closure of the median opening on Highway 101 and restricting turns from Rocks and Cannon roads onto southbound Hwy. 101.
