
FWC reports one dead and one hospitalized in fatal boating accident near Captiva Pass
A tragic accident involving a collision between a jet ski and a larger boat near Captiva Pass in Lee County resulted in one fatality and another person being hospitalized on Saturday, as confirmed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The incident occurred in the Pine Island Sound channel near Captiva Pass when a personal watercraft carrying two individuals crashed into a 28-foot vessel with four occupants. One individual from the jet ski was airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the second person was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Thankfully, the four individuals on the larger boat were uninjured. Various agencies, including FWC Law Enforcement, Lee County Sheriff's Office, and multiple fire departments, responded to the scene, and the FWC is actively leading the investigation into the collision.
