Florida truck driver accused in collision causing deaths of 3, injuries to 5 in eastern Michigan

A truck driver from Florida has been arrested after a fatal accident that resulted in the death of three individuals and injured five others in Ellington Township, Michigan. The collision occurred on September 26 on Deckerville Road near Hurds Corner Road. The driver, Pavel Shchukin, 55, was operating a semi-truck when he ran a stop sign and crashed into a Jeep carrying eight Cass City residents. Three people died at the scene, and five were hospitalized, some in critical condition. Shchukin and his passenger sustained minor injuries. Charges against Shchukin include three counts of moving violation causing death and five counts of moving violation causing serious injuries. He is currently in custody with a $100,000 bond at the Tuscola County Jail. The names of those involved in the crash have not been disclosed by the sheriff's office.
