
Fatality prompts closure of US-27 in Clermont on Sunday morning.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that a fatal crash occurred on early Sunday morning on US-27 in Clermont. The collision resulted in the closure of the road for several hours. The accident, which took place just before 2 a.m. north of Frank Jarrell Road, involved a 2019 Audi Q5 and a 2021 Toyota Camry. FHP's initial findings suggest that the Audi was speeding southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with the Toyota. The Audi's driver, a 22-year-old man from Windermere, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Sadly, the Toyota's driver, a 28-year-old man from Orlando, was pronounced dead at the crash site. FHP is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident, and the roadway has since been reopened to traffic.
