Fatality in car accident on I-94
A man from Miles City tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 94 on Friday. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the 41-year-old man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee heading east around 11 p.m. when the vehicle veered across the centerline close to mile marker 137 near Miles City and collided with a bridge barrier. The driver attempted to correct the direction but ended up running off the right side of the road, hitting a delineator post before the Jeep overturned and rolled several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle before it finally stopped in a barrow pit, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. The individual's name has not been disclosed. The Montana Highway Patrol suspects that drugs and excessive speed could have contributed to the accident, and it was noted that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
