Fatal two-car collision on 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights; lane closures

One person tragically lost their life in a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Boyle Heights, which resulted in the closure of lanes on the 10 Freeway early Saturday morning. The incident took place on the westbound 10 freeway, just east of Cesar Chavez Avenue around 4:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol reported that two vehicles crashed during wet conditions, with one vehicle emitting smoke and the other facing the wrong direction. Initially, all westbound lanes were closed upon the arrival of emergency responders. However, by 5 a.m., only the number 2 and 3 lanes were still closed as authorities conducted a thorough investigation. A SigAlert was issued for at least 90 minutes, cautioning drivers of possible delays in the area. Unfortunately, one person lost their life in the collision, with no other injuries reported. The cause of the crash is being investigated, including whether the weather played a role, given the wet freeway conditions at the time.
