Fatal Train Collision due to Crossbar Disregard
An incident involving a train and a car in Shreveport early Monday morning tragically resulted in the passing of two individuals. The collision took place on Oct. 6, 2025, around 2:09 a.m. at the intersection of East 85th Street and Fairfield Avenue, prompting a swift response from the Shreveport Police and Fire departments. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that the driver and one passenger in the back had sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Following initial inquiries by the Shreveport Police Crash Investigations Unit, the investigation revealed that a maroon Nissan Armada had ignored warning signals at the railroad crossing, leading to a collision with a freight train. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over, ejecting the occupants. A third individual, who had been seated in the front at the time of the accident, escaped and was later found at a relative's home. He confirmed the driver had disregarded the alert signals before the collision. The survivor was taken to Ochsner LSU Medical Center for medical care. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
