Fatal train-car collision due to driver disregarding warning signals leads to two casualties

Tragically, a fatal train-car collision in Shreveport early on Monday resulted in the loss of two individuals and their pet. The incident took place on Oct. 6, 2025, around 2:09 a.m. on East 85th Street near Fairfield Ave. Shreveport Police and Fire departments responded promptly to the crash scene. Responders found the driver and one backseat passenger deceased, as well as their pet. The vehicle, a maroon Nissan Armada, was traveling eastbound on East 85th Street and disregarded the lowered warning arm at the railroad crossing despite flashing red lights. The car was struck by a freight train on the driver's side, causing it to overturn and eject passengers. A third passenger was located later and revealed that the driver had ignored the warning signals before the collision. This passenger was taken to Ochsner LSU Medical Center for treatment. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
