Fatal three-tractor-trailer crash in Washington County
A tragic incident occurred last Thursday in Washington County where a woman lost her life in a three-vehicle collision. The Maryland State Police received a report of the crash on northbound Interstate 81, just south of U.S. Route 11 at 8:39 a.m. According to investigators, a Honda Civic was hit by a tractor trailer while driving in the second lane on I-81. The impact caused the Honda to collide with another tractor trailer. Kathleen Hitch, the 36-year-old driver of the Honda, was fatally injured in the accident. The two tractor trailer drivers, 60-year-old Charles Fields and Luis Manuel Rodriguez, were both hospitalized for their injuries. The lanes had to be closed for 12 hours to conduct a thorough investigation.
