Fatal plane crash sparks blaze near Colorado airport

Early Friday morning, a small aircraft crashed near a generator, causing a fire close to Centennial Airport. Sadly, two individuals lost their lives in the crash, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Emergency responders from South Metro Fire Rescue quickly arrived at 8636 S. Peoria Street following reports of an explosion. The fire posed a threat to nearby structures and a large generator. South Metro Fire confirmed that the crash triggered the fire near the generator. Fortunately, no one on the ground was harmed. The South Metro Fire Rescue team managed to extinguish the fire that had engulfed the small plane and was endangering the surrounding area. The circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation by authorities, including the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the NTSB. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office stated that the weather conditions at the time of the crash included light rain. It was noted that the airport's operations were unlikely to have been affected.
