Fatal motorcycle crash on I-664 in Chesapeake.
A man tragically passed away after a motorcycle accident in Chesapeake on Thursday evening. Virginia State Police responded to the scene at the entrance ramp to Interstate 664 from Portsmouth Boulevard following reports of a single motorcycle crash. Emergency personnel were administering medical assistance to the driver, identified as 34-year-old Tyler McQuillan Cavanagh, who was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson. Despite being taken to Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Cavanagh later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation revealed that Cavanagh, who hails from Norfolk, was heading westbound on Portsmouth Boulevard when he lost control while entering the northbound Interstate 664 ramp, hitting a curb and causing the motorcycle to overturn. Sadly, he was thrown from the bike after it collided with a guardrail. Authorities stated that alcohol played a role in the incident.
