Fatal head-on collision claims two lives on Old Brownsville Rd.
A tragic incident on Monday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the 6200 block of Old Brownsville Road resulted in the loss of two lives. Corpus Christi Police Department Senior Officer Antonio Contreras reported that a dump truck traveling north on Old Brownsville collided head-on with an SUV heading in the opposite direction after the SUV skidded on the wet road. The driver and a passenger in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene, while a child in the backseat sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The dump truck driver was also hospitalized as a precautionary measure. The accident led to the closure of Old Brownsville Road for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation. The identities of the victims have not been released pending an autopsy by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.
