Fatal downtown collision between car and scooter
A tragic incident occurred over the weekend in downtown Austin where a young man, Alexander Gonzalo, lost his life in a car accident while riding a scooter. The collision took place at the intersection of W Fifth and Rio Grande streets early Saturday morning. Gonzalo was taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away the following day. Authorities report that the driver involved in the accident stayed at the scene, was not under the influence, and fully assisted with the investigation. This unfortunate event is the 84th fatal crash in Austin this year.
