Fatal crash on M-59 in Oakland County causes death

A man from Pontiac, Michigan, passed away following a multi-vehicle collision on Monday morning on eastbound M-59 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo around 6 a.m. when, along with a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, he encountered an icy patch which led to both vehicles leaving the road and striking a cable barrier. The man's vehicle then rebounded off the barrier, slid onto its side back onto the road, and was subsequently hit by a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old from Oxford, Michigan. Unfortunately, the man's identity has not been disclosed, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Impala sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. No other drivers suffered injuries, and all occupants were wearing seat belts. While alcohol was not thought to be involved, authorities suspect that excessive speed on icy roads could have been a contributing factor. The incident is currently being investigated.
