Fatal crash on Highway 79 in Jefferson County.
A tragic accident occurred in Jefferson County last Friday morning, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to a juvenile girl. The incident, involving a car and a dump truck, took place on Highway 79 (Pinson Valley Parkway) between Carson Road and Jefferson State Park. According to reports from the sheriff's office and Center Point Fire District (CPFD), the woman was fatally injured, while the child was taken to Children's of Alabama Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Following the closure of the highway for several hours as traffic was redirected, it has since reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
