Fatal crash near Walmart Drive claims life of 70-year-old woman
A tragic incident occurred at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Walmart Drive and West Reynolds Street in Pontiac, resulting in the death of 70-year-old Pontiac resident Nancy Benedict. According to officials, Benedict was fatally injured in a collision with another vehicle driven by Michael Stalter, 63, who sustained minor injuries and was later released. Stalter was also cited for running a red light. The details of the accident are still being investigated jointly by the Pontiac Police, Livingston County Coroner's Office, and the Illinois State Police accident reconstruction unit.
