Fatal crash near Newton claims life of Hesston man
The Harvey County Sheriff's Office is looking into a tragic accident that occurred early Wednesday morning near Newton. The incident, involving a semi-trailer and a car, took place on Hesston Road close to the Meridian crossroads around 7:15 a.m. Regrettably, Peter Hartman, a 90-year-old resident of Hesston who was driving the car, passed away after sustaining serious injuries and being taken to a hospital in Wichita. According to the sheriff, the collision occurred when Hartman's vehicle collided with the semi while the semi was attempting to turn right from Hesston Road onto 36th Street. Both vehicles did not have any passengers. Authorities are currently investigating the crash further.
