Fatal crash near Danville on Monday morning
Two individuals lost their lives and one person sustained injuries in a collision involving two vehicles near Danville on Monday morning. The tragic incident occurred at the intersection of Bowman Avenue and Poland Road, near the Vermilion Regional Airport. According to Captain Michael Hartshorn of the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department, the crash unfolded at approximately 8:24 a.m. It was found in the preliminary investigation that a vehicle traveling east on Poland failed to yield at the intersection, leading to a collision with a northbound vehicle on Bowman. This resulted in both vehicles ending up in a roadside ditch. The Illinois State Police's Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is providing assistance to the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department in the ongoing investigation.
