Fatal crash involving two firefighters on SR 260 near Show Low
A city in Navajo County is grieving the loss of two firefighters who tragically lost their lives in a crash on Sunday night. The Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District in Show Low confirmed that two firefighters were killed in a collision on State Route 260 while on duty in an ambulance. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the incident which took place around 10 p.m. near milepost 319, between Heber-Overgaard and Show Low. The crash occurred when a vehicle traveling westbound crossed the center line and struck the oncoming Timber Mesa Fire District ambulance head-on. The driver of the civilian vehicle, the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, as were both individuals in the ambulance. The investigation into the tragic event is ongoing.
