Fatal crash involving tractor-trailer leaves North Country woman dead and passenger severely injured
A woman from Saranac Lake passed away and another individual was seriously injured following a collision involving a tractor-trailer in Keene on Monday. According to the New York State Police, the accident occurred when the tractor-trailer driver lost control of the vehicle on NYS Route 73 due to slush on the road. The truck veered and crossed into the opposite lane, where Tracy Mauler, 57, was driving and unable to avoid the collision. Mauler was pronounced dead at the scene. An 84-year-old woman from Saranac Lake who was a passenger in Mauler's vehicle was taken to Adirondack Medical Center and then transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in critical condition. Thankfully, the other drivers involved were not injured. The truck driver involved is not currently facing any charges as the investigation into the incident continues.
