Fatal crash in Van Nuys injures one.
A fatal high-speed crash occurred in Van Nuys early Wednesday morning, resulting in one death and one person sustaining injuries. Authorities are exploring the possibility that the surviving driver may have been connected to a previous hit-and-run in the vicinity. The Los Angeles Police Department suspects that excessive speed played a role in the collision, which involved a gray Scion and a Prius at the intersection of Kester Avenue and Saticoy Street. Although the exact cause of the crash is uncertain, the LAPD mentioned that the Scion driver's speed may have been a contributing factor. Tragically, the Prius driver was declared dead at the crash site, while the Scion driver was hospitalized with moderate injuries. A nearby resident, who chose not to disclose his identity to CBS LA, recounted the event and noted previous accidents at the intersection, emphasizing the proximity of a school as a safety concern. The LAPD will continue its investigation into the incident.
