
Fatal crash in Rootstown Township
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a collision that tragically resulted in the loss of one life and injuring two others. The accident occurred in Rootstown Township on State Route 44 near mile marker 6 at approximately 1:45 a.m. According to officials, the crash involved a Honda Civic being driven by an 18-year-old male southbound on State Route 44. The driver veered across the center line, leading to a loss of control, then swerved back into the southbound lane and veered off the road, hitting a ditch and a mailbox. The vehicle flipped over and landed upright on all four tires. The driver and a 21-year-old female passenger sustained injuries but are expected to recover. Unfortunately, 20-year-old Danavir Caitanya Patrick White, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car and died at the scene. Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol played roles in the collision.
