
Fatal crash in Poweshiek County: 2 dead, 4 injured
A tragic accident in Poweshiek County resulted in the loss of two lives and left four others injured on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 63 and Ewart Road, north of Montezuma. The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting the crash, involving a Jeep Wrangler that failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a Jeep Renegade. Two rear seat passengers of the Jeep Wrangler were unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene, as they were apparently not wearing seatbelts. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating the incident, and the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed pending family notification. The injured individuals were rushed to hospitals via ambulances and medical helicopters. Various local agencies and departments, including emergency services and the Iowa DOT, offered assistance at the crash site.
