Fatal crash in Middlefield
One person has died in a late-night crash on Route 66 in Middlefield, as reported by the fire department. The collision between two vehicles occurred just before midnight at the Meriden and Baileyville Roads intersection, leading one car to overturn and catch fire. Onlookers were able to rescue the injured individual from the burning vehicle before they were taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the person in the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The road closure between Baileyville and Hill Roads has now been lifted, but stay tuned to News 8 for any further developments.
