Fatal crash in Brevard County linked to hit-and-run suspect
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a tragic accident involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Eber Boulevard in Brevard County. The incident occurred on a Friday evening around 6:42 p.m. and sadly resulted in the death of a 67-year-old woman from Melbourne Beach. Troopers report that a 2017 box truck, which was allegedly fleeing from a hit-and-run being investigated by the West Melbourne Police Department, ran a red light and collided with a 2021 Porsche Taycan driven by the woman. The impact caused the box truck to overturn into a ditch and debris to strike another vehicle, leading to a chain reaction of collisions involving six vehicles in total. The 26-year-old man driving the box truck sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Charges against him are pending as the case remains an ongoing criminal investigation by the FHP.
