Fatal Crash Claims Lives of 17 in Chevella

In Chevella (Vikarabad), a tragic incident occurred when a gravel-laden lorry collided head-on with an RTC bus from the Tandur depot near Mirzaguda village in the Ranga Reddy district. This collision resulted in the deaths of seventeen individuals, with many others seriously injured. The impact caused the lorry's gravel load to fall onto the bus, trapping numerous passengers. Prompt response from police and rescue teams, utilizing three JCB machines, was crucial in freeing those trapped beneath the debris. The RTC bus, carrying around 70 passengers, was en route from Tandur to Hyderabad, mainly carrying students and employees. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened on a curve, with the speeding lorry losing control and crashing into the bus. The injured were swiftly taken to hospitals in Chevella and Hyderabad. Traffic congestion on the Hyderabad–Bijapur highway resulted from the accident, with vehicles stuck for several kilometers on the Chevella–Vikarabad route. Senior police and transport officials were present at the scene to oversee rescue and clearance efforts, while concerns remain about the potential for the death toll to increase due to victims in critical condition.
