Fatal crash being investigated near Morgantown on I-79
A fatal accident occurred early Monday morning on I-79 near Morgantown, resulting in one person's death and hospitalizing four others. According to West Virginia officials, a collision between a Peterbilt truck and a 2022 Hyundai occurred around 6:10 a.m. near exit 155 in Star City. The car was carrying five passengers, all of whom were transported to JW Ruby Memorial Hospital. Sadly, one passenger succumbed to their injuries. The identities of the individuals involved have not been disclosed, and the conditions of the injured are not known. The truck driver was reportedly unharmed. Authorities closed a section of the highway for over three hours to clear the area, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
